The owners of the chalet are total foodies, and the meals and ingredients offered to guests reflects this obsession. In true Italian style, morning meals are bread, pastries, eggs and cheese, alongside a coffee machine. So, guests can come, quickly make their breakfast and graze through the kitchen at the hours that suite them, before hitting the slopes. When guests return from the slopes they are met with a roaring fire, (and bubbling hot tub outside) with fresh cakes and tea from the chef or Andreas, the chalet host.
Late afternoon drifts into early evening, and prosecco, wines and antipasti plates sourced from the local farm, are shared around the fire, before a three course Tyrolean meal. No fancy food here. Think hearty mountain pastas and meat dishes followed with strudel and fresh mountain cream. Prepared to warm the heart and fill the stomach after a long day on the slopes. Many of our friends are vegetarian or vegan, and notified in advance, we can accommodate most dietary requests within the evening meals.
Separate tables in the kitchen can accommodate the impatient appetites of kids as well, served and finished so they can disappear downstairs to bed or to the games room, and leave the parents in peace to enjoy their meal.
We source as much of the food as we can get from close-by. Organic and as local as you can get, our neighbor’s flock grazes the chalet meadows in summer. The methods of farming here are timeless and the flavours reflect this. The fresh butter even changes colour in the season depending on what flowers the cows are eating that month.
We serve the wines that we drink ourselves in Italy. Complimentary Prosecco sourced from a small off-label supplier whose drinks accompany our every family gathering in Italy. And Forst beer (the regional favourite) alongside complimentary red and whites from the region, are offered with every meal, alongside the obligatory local grappa after dessert. For curious palates, the chalet cellar also stocks a fun breadth of wines from across Italy that can be purchased at any time alongside champagnes and gin.
Please note the chalet is also available to rent on a self-catered basis.
