Chalet Doss is located in the heart of the Parco Adamello Brenta national park, a unique UNESCO-protected area, revered for it’s magical pink mountain peaks, and the animals that call it home. Every night badgers rustle around the grounds of the chalet, deer can be spotted grazing across the meadows from the chalet balcony, and bear prints are frequently found after the winter hibernation ends. Bear numbers have soared in recent years, due to the rich habitat and the protective pride of the local people who consider them neighbours. If the Rockies had a more gentle European equivalent, this would be it. Each room is named after one of the animals we have seen or filmed close to the chalet.
Echoing this, the Chalet has been built to be as sustainable as possible. All food and materials are recycled and all waste products pass through a reed bed system in the meadows before passing into the trout-filled river below. All guests are offered ecological products in each bathroom to help keep the river clean.
